ennis legend Rafael Nadal has admitted he does not “identify” with either Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner, despite their dominance in the new era of men’s tennis.
Nadal, a 22‑time Grand Slam champion who retired in November 2024, was part of the iconic “Big 3” generation alongside Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Their reign has now been succeeded by Alcaraz and Sinner, who have swept the last eight Grand Slam singles titles between them.
At just 22, Alcaraz already boasts six Grand Slam titles, while 24‑year‑old Sinner has won four majors and reached the final of every Slam in 2025.
Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Nadal explained:
With no clear rival to challenge the “New 2,” comparisons continue between their contrasting styles and personalities — and how they measure up against the legendary Big 3.
