It was a weekend of highs and lows for Alex Dunne at the F2 Australian Grand Prix. The 20-year-old Irishman impressed in qualifying and Saturday’s sprint, but his feature race ended in frustration after a collision with teammate Martinius Stenshorne.
The Incident
- Dunne qualified P3 and surged to P2 at the start of Sunday’s feature race.
- On Lap 2, he battled Stenshorne side-by-side through Turns 11–13.
- Heading into Lap 3, contact between the Rodin Motorsport teammates sent both cars out of the race.
- Stewards ruled Dunne “predominantly responsible,” handing him a 10-second penalty, converted into a five-place grid drop for the next round in Sakhir.
The Results
- Winner: Nikola Tsolov (Campos Racing) — first Bulgarian to win in F2.
- 2nd: Rafael Camara (Invicta Racing).
- 3rd: Laurens van Hoepen (Trident).
