Jack Draper is back to defend his Indian Wells Masters title, with new coach Jamie Delgado confident the Briton has the talent to rejoin tennis’ elite after a long injury layoff.
The Comeback
- Draper missed months of action with a persistent arm problem, last playing in August 2025.
- He skipped the Australian Open to ensure full fitness, saying: “If I’m going to enter a tournament, I want to feel like I can go all the way.”
- Now ranked No. 14, he looks to rebuild momentum after an early exit in Dubai.
Delgado’s View
- Delgado, who coached Andy Murray from 2016–2021, joined Draper’s team in October.
- “Every player is always trying to add to their game. Alcaraz is probably the only one who has all the skills honed in. Jack is just a bit behind those guys through being out of the game, but he’s in a great place to do well.”
- Draper’s best result remains his 2024 US Open semi-final, proving he can compete at the highest level.
The Challenge Ahead
- Draper’s breakthrough came at Indian Wells last year, his maiden ATP 1000 title.
- He now faces the test of defending his crown against a field led by Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
