Boxing star Anthony Joshua sustained minor injuries in a fatal car accident in Nigeria on Monday, an incident that tragically claimed the lives of two other passengers. The crash occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near the Sinoma area close to Sagamu in Ogun State.
Joshua, 36, was helped from the wreckage by bystanders before being taken to hospital for treatment. His promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking from holiday, confirmed that Joshua was “alright” and receiving medical attention, though further details were not immediately available.
The former unified heavyweight champion had been spending time in Nigeria, where his family originates. Despite being born in England, Joshua is known for proudly representing both nations and is frequently seen with the Nigerian flag.

🥊 Jake Paul Reacts
Joshua’s recent opponent, Jake Paul, shared a message of concern on X, writing:
> “Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.”
The two fought earlier this month in Miami, and despite their rivalry, Paul’s message reflected the gravity of the situation.
