The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a Boxing Day classic at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, edging Tunisia 3-2 to secure early qualification for the AFCON 2025 Round of 16.
Nigeria struck first just before halftime when Victor Osimhen rose highest to head home. Captain Wilfred Ndidi doubled the lead early in the second half, before Ademola Lookman added a third to seemingly put the contest beyond reach.
Tunisia, however, refused to fold. Montassar Talbi powered in a header from a Hannibal Mejbri free kick, and Ali Abdi fired into the roof of the net in the 87th minute to set up a nervy finale.
Nigeria held firm to claim all three points, moving top of Group C with six points from two games. The victory also avenged their painful 2022 AFCON Round of 16 defeat to Tunisia.
